Rapid Prototyping the CAV
Watch Boeing engineers go from paper to prototype!
Making improvements on an existing vehicle can be hard enough. Some Boeing engineers, however, are designing brand new vehicles. Take a look at the first of a new type of vehicle!
Boeing HorizonX engineers went from a concept on paper to a working prototype of the Cargo Air Vehicle (CAV) in just three months.
Engineers thought of several different rotor number possibilities before building this version with six pairs of rotors, each with two bladed propellers.
The CAV power system is fully electric with custom batteries. Development of this vehicle is in work, with the goal to be able to fly 250-500 pounds of cargo within a 10-20 mile range.
